Emerging filmmaker, Kunmi Ogunsola has produced a new social reality film titled “Sunflower”, which looks at the harrowing effects of a hostile father-daughter relationship and how she deals with his death.

The Sunflower Premier Screening will take place on the 26th June 2016 at The Yard Theatre, Hulme, Manchester at 7pm. The event includes a red carpet entrance, behind the scenes footage and a Q&A session with the cast. There will also be a live performance of The Film Soundtrack by Manchester Artists David B and Mena Music.

Based in Gorton, Manchester, Ogunsola drew his inspiration for “Sunflower” from personal experiences of growing up with his Nigerian father.

“My Dad associated showing affection to his kids with weakness. As a result, we had a sort of employer to employee relationship. This films explores that.”  –Kunmi Ogunsola, director of “Sunflower.

The 23-year-old, who already has three independent stage plays under his belt, hopes this short film will provide a platform for families to begin to have healthy conversations. He believes parent-children disputes could be reduced when both parties understand and acknowledge each other more effectively.
