Kensington Palace leap to the defence of Prince Harry’s new girlfriend, Meghan Markle, by releasing an official statement to the media in the Prince’s name.
Prince Harry and American actress, Meghan Markle, have been rumoured in the press to be dating for like the past week now. But rather than celebrate the Prince’s new relationship with the ‘Suits’ actress the British media have used it as an opportunity to “subject [Meghan] to a wave of abuse and harassment”. Stories have floated around in the press that have been clearly racist, making a point of the actress’ African-American heritage, and trying to loosely link her to gang activity because of the neighbourhood her Mum currently lives in.
Not one to take it lying down, Prince Harry took the unusual move of speaking out and frankly addressing the press to express his upset and disappointment. In the lengthy statement released today the Prince not only confirms his relationship with Meghan but also makes an appeal to those driving these stories to “stop and reflect on the damage they are causing”.

It’s to be expected that the press would have a field day with new developments in the Prince’s love life, but in 2016 why is the conversation so overtly racist? On the plus, great act of chivalry from the Prince, a million brownie points from us.[spacer style=”1″]
