One thousand young people from a range of churches and denominations will be gathering at Birmingham City Church to celebrate the past ten years of Midnight Oil and share in the vision of what’s to come.
One of the most well known young leaders within Britain’s black Christian community, Seth Pinnock is preparing to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his flagship youth event Midnight Oil Summit. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 5th at Birmingham City Church. Seth Pinnock shared, “I’m looking forward to Midnight Oil’s 10th Anniversary Celebration. It’s come a long way since we hosted our first event at the age of 17 and packed bags in Asda to raise money to fund it
He continued, “Over the years Midnight Oil Summit has dramatically impacted and transformed the lives of those that have attended. It’s also provided opportunities for outstanding young Christian leaders and artists to share their ministry gifts on a national platform. And due to the teaching that young people have received over the years, many have gone on to start businesses, ministries or even renew their faith and become active in the church. These are great results of which we are very proud.”
Amongst the activities of the day highlights include a Charity launch party and barbeque for the general public and a special live album concert and recording by Seth’s band ‘A New Thing’.
Seth shared, “This will be the second album recording to take place at a Midnight Oil event. And we have some of the UK’s leading producers, musicians and artists taking part including Nicky Brown, Anna Hellebronth & Worship Central, writers of the worship songs classic ‘Spirit Break Out’. We aim to have the album ready for release by January 2018.”
Special guests at this year’s event include BBC TV Voice contestant Israel Allen, singer Becca Folkes, worship leader Mark Beswick, Lucy Grimble, Charles Dada, Rev David Shosanya and Lord Michael Hastings
Seth stated, “I believe this year’s Midnight Oil Summit will be truly transformative for those that attend and mark a new era in Midnight Oil and the various projects we oversee.”
Although Seth, an award winning leader within the Christian community, is known for organising and hosting the Midnight Oil Summit, he is a man of many talents.
During his two-year break from Midnight Oil, Seth was busy doing a concert tour of his debut album ‘Live In Worship’, raising money for the homeless during a five-day sleep out and working as a consultant for Christian charities Tearfund and the Big Church Day Out.
It’s not surprising that Seth is seen as an established young leader within Britain’s Christian community. Over the years Midnight Oil Summit has seen an attendance in a total of 10,000 plus. In acknowledgement of Seth’s success at mobilising young people he recently received the Outstanding Young Visionary Award at the Minister’s Appreciation Ball in London.
He is keen that this special Midnight Oil event does what it has always done – which is attract people from across the denominational spectrum to unite, worship and be empowered.
