The UK’s leading black family entertainment channel OHTV is making a big move OFF the Sky TV platform to migrate online and will now call the UN1TY IPTV and APP platform its new home as of April 1st 2016.
OHTV has been right at the heart of black family entertainment media and broadcasting in the UK since 2008 and has garnered respect and an audience around the world. Known for providing content that is entertaining, uplifting and challenging, the channel continues to ride the waves of change in broadcasting and consumer viewing behaviors. With the climate of broadcast television constantly changing, OH TV CEO Akin Salami has made the crucial decision for OH TV to make this giant leap into the future.
“When we started OH TV in 2008, we started as one channel. By 2014, we redefined that by taking on technology ourselves and contrary to what others believed as impossible, we were broadcasting three different strands of our channel. We became better at what we do and created many titles of our own. Now, we’ve looked at the trends and we’ve seen what is going on with consumer television. The advantage for us joining hands with UN1TY is that we are proud to be on a BME platform that is targeted at the BME audience. UN1TY is available across the world and this gives us a global reach.” Akin Salami, OH TV CEO.
“We are excited about this move to the online sphere as it opens OH TV to a new host of viewers from around the world who will enjoy our programming. We will continue with our commitment to broadcasting engaging and uplifting family content. With this move to UN1TY, we will also release new seasons of our flagship shows including a brand new season of Naija Bites, lots of films, dramas and so much more.” Vidal Juba, OH TV Station Director.
UN1TY is a leading IPTV and APP based service that gives subscribers premium value content in High Definition on TV and other HDMI devices. Since its inception, UN1TY has sought to revolutionise the face of African and Caribbean media through the creation of the HD IPTV and APP platform. In recent years UN1TY has become a one-stop platform for the global distribution of African and Caribbean content.
The UN1TY IPTV and APP platform enables users to connect to live TV and movie services from anywhere around the globe. The app is available on the UN1TY HDMI DONGLE (visit www.un1ty.tv for more information), SMART TV, Android devices, PCs and MACs, with over half a million users and climbing. The UN1TY IPTV and APP platform also has a VOD (Video on Demand) service, so programmes will never be missed and can be watched anywhere, anytime. With UN1TY, viewers are always spoilt for choice.
As fan’s ourselves of the channel, (we particularly love shows like ‘Oh Music’, UPrise TV and the new Fuel TV hosted by Tobi Ashimolowo) we will be sad to see OHTV leave our television screens, but are excited about the future for this innovative media company.
