Natural Hair and Beauty event, Girl’s Night In, took place in Manchester recently at Levenshulme Inspire. Organised and hosted by Christian singer/song-writer, Ni-Cola, the event was all about celebrating natural afro hair and black beauty.
The night consisted of hair and make-up demonstrations from local hair stylists and beauticians, as well as the launch of a brand new natural hair and body product line by Manchester based blogger, Creative Alia.
Watch the video to hear what the organisers and some women that attended thought about the night.
The event was very well attended by women across the region who desired to pick up tips and ideas on how to manage their natural hair. There has been an increasing trend of black women “going natural”. This has been led, in part, by the rising popularity of American natural hair bloggers like Afrobella & Curly Nikki. Whilst the natural community is thriving across the pond there aren’t many hair and beauty events of this type that happen here in the Northwest targeted towards black women embracing natural hair.
Ni-Cola and the Girls Night In team plan to hold a lot more events to share ideas, tips, and inspiration with the next one planned for later this year. In the meantime you can follow them on Facebook at Naturally Beautiful.[spacer style=”1″]
