Kat Deal, a London based singer and multi-instrumentalist, released her debut single last week ‘Staring Back At Me’ and we absolutely love it.
Kat Deal, who’s music is described as ‘soul influenced pop with gospel undertones’, was raised in the church and has sung with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra so is heavily influenced by Jazz, Gospel, Pop, and everything else in between.
These influences are clearly heard on the beautiful, soulful track ‘Staring Back At Me’ which talks about an “ultimate type of love”. The video that accompanies the song was directed by Kat herself and follows the progression of a relationship between a young couple who start out shy but grow into a more intimate relationship which becomes comfortable enough for them to reveal their true colours to one another allowing them to be their true selves. It almost sounds like an agape kind of love to us.
Since the tracks release it has received well deserved attention from mainstream media platforms including airplay on BBC Radio 2, 6 Music, and BBC Radio London.

We love that all the musicians on ‘Staring Back At Me’ are Christians who are making it in both mainstream and Christian circuits. Producer Tim Deal (The Dealer), Feranmi Oguns on drums, Matt Weeks on bass, Adeola Shyllon on backing vocals, and Kat Deal on saxophone, trumpet, and backing vocals.
‘Staring Back At Me’ is available now on Itunes and Amazon.
