Introjuice: HillSong Worship – No Other Name
Hillsong never seem to fail to deliver when it comes to writing songs that are perfect for that one-on-one time with the Lord or for full on congregational praise and worship sessions. Either way, you can expect lyrical content that are almost always pointing upwards with an ‘all about Him’ theme. Simple melodic structures and arrangements instinctively create an atmosphere of worship.
With the release of their annual Hillsong Worship album in 2014 came ‘No Other Name’ with feature track of the same title. The album features the songwriting, worship leadership, musicianship and vocals of those now well-known as the Hillsong Worship team, including Reuben Morgan, Ben Fielding, Matt Crocker, Joel Houston, Nigel Hendroff, Autumn Hardman, Annie Garrett, Jad Gillies, David Ware, and Taya Smith.
The feature track ‘No Other Name’ has been circulating in my playlist for the past few weeks after I heard it whilst listening to Premier Christian Radio in the car. Although it didn’t blow me away musically, I was struck by its solidity and lyrical strength. There was something about this song that just caused me to listen intently to every word, which arguably is more important than the musical jolly I may have been after – there’s a time and place for everything I guess, and the perfect time and place for this song is definitely in that worship closet or fellowship.
