My Greene Gene is a UK based organisation with a global desire to showcase, celebrate and highlight the wealth of roles models of Nigerian Heritage. Nigeria,  proudly referred to as the ‘Giant of Africa’, has been consistently and  successfully represented in an array of high profile sectors such as the film, music and sports industries.

It is for this reason that Adisa Adewumi – founder of ‘My Green Gene’ is passionate about ensuring that awareness of the nation’s offspring is raised across the diaspora and beyond. One way My Green Gene is setting about that objective is through the GPlus Awards. This glitzy award ceremony aims to celebrate the Nigerian or ‘Green’ gene.  On Sunday, August 7, 2016, the city of Manchester will play host to the maiden edition of the GPlus Awards. The event will take place at Imperial War Museum and kicks off at 5:30 with a Red carpet affair.

Adisa Adewumi said this:

“Nigerians all over the world are known to be intelligent and industrious in every sector you find them. Filled with so much zeal and determination to succeed, Nigerians proudly excel in whatever they find their hands doing, showcasing the Green-white Green with them.

As the giant of Africa, Nigeria played leadership roles in restoring peace to some countries in the continent. With these and many more achievements, it behoves of Nigerians home and abroad to celebrate and encourage themselves especially in the face of negative reports about Nigeria and Nigerians in the International media.”

Oyinbo BoyAlready confirmed to be attending the event is the Mayor of the Borough of Trafford – Councillor Judith Lloyd and Mayoress Ms Noelle Ryder. Coming all the way from Germany to perform live at the event will be Nicolas Niki Tall (Oyinbo Boy) alongside Sophy-yah from London.
