Manchester’s, Ni-Cola Witter, and her Arts Charity, ‘Manchester Community Spirit’, release their first Christmas single produced by local disadvantaged children and young people.
Having been awarded grant funding for their dynamic approach to working with young people on various projects across Manchester, Ni-Cola’s ‘Manchester Community Spirit’ partnered with young people who wrote and produced their very own Christmas song. They hope the charity single will bring some warm Christmas cheer in this season across Manchester homes and beyond whilst also helping to raise funds to transform the lives of children and young people.
For 10 weeks beginning September 2017 young people from the local community in Levenshulme, Manchester attended a music production project titled ‘On tha BEAT’. They had the opportunity to learn the basics of music production, how to write song lyrics, create beats, attend rap workshops and even some music business classes to get them ready for the music industry. The accredited course helps young people who may not have great academic attainment work towards achieving their Arts award, which is equivalent to GCSE’s.
All monies raised from the charity single, will go towards providing more projects and support for disadvantaged children and young people in Manchester.
