In a bid to support and celebrate single parent families, TREM Place of Our Sanctuary Church in Fulham, London is hosting a series of events this Christmas.
Christmas is a time of joyous celebration. Whether it be an opportunity to relax and indulge with loved ones or a time to reflect on the goodness of God and the birth of Christ, Christmas is for many “the most wonderful time of the year”.
But for some that is far from their reality. The bright, flashing lights of Christmas amplify a sense of sadness, loneliness, and anything but cheer.
So, what can the church do to make this season go a little easier for those that struggle through it? Some churches serve their local communities by organising Christmas hampers for struggling families, some ministries serve up Christmas Day dinners for the elderly, some do Christmas present appeals for sick children in hospitals. This year, one church in Fulham has decided to serve its local community by placing their focus firmly on single parent families.
In a bid to support and celebrate single parent families, TREM Place of Our Sanctuary Church in Fulham, London, is hosting a series of events this Christmas season giving these families an opportunity to take a moment to celebrate in a relaxed and friendly environment.
The multi-cultural family church kicks off their Christmas events this Saturday, December 17th, with ‘It’s Christmas’ a fun day event offering a nativity play and carol singing to entertain the kiddies whilst single parents will be treated to free make-up and body care, plus a family or individual photoshoot. Then followed on the Sunday, by a special end of year Thanksgiving Service.
Tosan Boyo, a member of the church said, “Our desire this Christmas is to impact the community in a meaningful way. We have a passion for and a commitment to helping people and a heart for families. ‘It’s Christmas’ promises to be a fun day to remember.”
