Oxford based Gary Smith A.K.A DJ G has gone where no Christian DJ has gone before (we reckon). This Gospel House DJ was flown over to play at the Monaco Grand Prix 2016. Now in our book, that’s a pretty big deal!
DJ G starting DJ-ing as a hobby about 10 years ago and discovered a love for Soulful/Gospel House after hearing a track by Gospel group, Jasper Street Company which he says opened his eyes to “a world of great music which made people feel good and had a message.”
Since then, DJ G has grown from strength to strength, DJ-ing at various locations including the Bristol and Oxford carnival to a crowd of 135000. And now he can proudly add the Monaco Grand Prix to his impressive deck spinning CV.
We asked him how he felt about his Monaco gig. He said this.
“I started DJ-ING as a hobby and slowly it grew into what I do now with teaching DJ skills to special needs children and playing overseas. Going to Monaco to play at the Grand Prix is a big deal as it took me 4 years to get here through God Grace and His blessings”
He went on to say:
“To be light in the dark is what Jesus calls for us to be. He came for the sick, not the well – so light needs to be in the dark to light it up. That is where I want to be. Shining for Christ in Monaco”
Back on British soil, we’re wondering what’s next for this Gospel DJ who is bashing down boundaries with a great big joyful smile on his face. Loving God, loving the music.
