Stylist and Fashion designer, Jeanette Young, has just experienced one of her most high profile work projects to date: styling a gospel choir for their performance at the recent Royal Wedding.

The Kingdom Choir, directed by Karen Gibson, sang at the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during their marriage ceremony. It was the first time a gospel choir had ever performed at a Royal wedding.

Jeanette runs her own fashion label and has styled numerous UK gospel artists but the Kingdom Choir are the first artists she has styled to appear before Royalty.

Kingdom Choir director Karen Gibson has been friends with Jeanette for many years. Both used to attend the same church and Jeanette has styled Karen for numerous occasions including her appearance on Gareth Malone’s show the Naked Choir TV show and performance at the BBC Gospel Proms.

The invitation to style Karen and the The Kingdom Choir caught Jeanette by surprise. She revealed, “I was honoured when Karen approached me to style the choir for their royal wedding performance.”

Jeanette, who also designed Karen’s dress for her big performance, travelled with the choir to Windsor to personally style them on the day of the wedding. She felt privileged to take part in a historic occasion. She recalled, “It was wonderful watching them perform, they sounded and looked amazing. They looked regal.”

A number of sponsors gave Jeanette their support to help her in the quest to make the choir look great for their grand performance. Sponsors included: Tanya Dimitrova, Oasis, Phase Eight, PopPr and Moss Bros.

Jeanette has been working in the fashion industry for over 15 years. A graduate of the London College of Fashion, Jeanette is an in-demand Garment Technologist and has worked for leading brands like Asos, Reiss, Karen Millen, River Island and Top Shop.

She launched her own fashion label in 2017 and has subsequently worked as a stylist. She also delivers workshops for women sharing information on how they can put forward their best selves through their clothing and style.

Now that her job of styling the Kingdom Choir for their historic Royal performance is over Jeanette is looking for her next challenge. “It was a great honour to style the choir. I hope that I get to work on comparable projects as well as continue to help people, both men and women to present their best selves.”
